Financial Accountant

Overview

As Financial Accountant in a well-established Carlisle business, you will prepare annual financial statements and manage statutory audits, ensuring robust controls. You will support budgeting, forecasting, and provide technical accounting guidance across departments while mentoring junior staff. The role reports to the Finance Director and involves strong stakeholder interaction and process improvement. This is an opportunity for an ACA/ACCA professional moving from practice or with industry experience to make an impact through technical excellence and business partnering.

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards
• Coordinate and lead the statutory audit as primary contact for auditors
• Maintain robust financial controls through system and process reviews
• Prepare VAT, corporate tax returns and other statutory filings
• Assist budgeting and forecasting activities
• Provide technical accounting guidance across departments and build strong relationships
• Mentor and support junior finance staff
• Drive continuous improvement in finance processes

Key requirements

• Technically strong ACA/ACCA qualified (full or part)
