Overview
In this role you will lead the procurement strategy for clinical trials and related medical services across multiple therapeutic areas. You will partner with R&D and Medical stakeholders to align sourcing with development plans and drive value through category strategies. You will manage end-to-end sourcing, supplier negotiations, and governance to deliver measurable savings and risk control. This position offers impact on clinical development and operational excellence within a global, matrix environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the business to align Clinical Development Plans and trial portfolios with procurement goals
- Analyze spend and budget to identify opportunities within R&D and Medical
- Define procurement strategies, source vendors, ensure alignment between technical specs, proposals and contracts
- Lead end-to-end procurement for Clinical and Medical initiatives following global policy and best practices
- Apply a 7-step strategic sourcing process to optimize spend, supplier performance and lead times
- Negotiate terms, drive value with cross-functional teams, and build a savings pipeline
- Implement and manage category strategies, outsourcing projects, and contract development
- Support SRM processes and oversee RFPs through contract execution
- Oversee supplier governance and performance through KPI-driven relationships
- Promote compliance with category strategies, processes, and tools
- Contribute to CSR and category-related initiatives
- Manage or support contractual or business litigations for assigned categories
- Develop and manage procurement community and share best practices
Key requirements
- Procurement experience in international and matrix environments
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and drug development process
- Experience with CROs and clinical operations
- Strong planning, organizational, and deadline management skills
- Proven strategic sourcing and negotiation capabilities
- Experience negotiating in cross-functional, multi-geography teams
- Fully skilled in procurement processes, systems and tools
- Risk management and supplier relationship management experience
- Project management ability with clear goals and contingency planning
- Data analysis and interpretation to inform procurement decisions
