Defendant Insurance Senior Associate / Legal Director – Bristol

Overview

In this role you join a leading national commercial law firm’s Litigation, Advisory & Regulatory team in Bristol as a senior litigator focusing on insurance and high-value claims. You will handle PI and property damage matters for insurers and public sector clients, while guiding junior lawyers and collaborating across the national office network. Your work will contribute to department growth and delivering client-focused, pragmatic outcomes. This is a high-impact role at a firm known for growth and strong client service, with hybrid working in Bristol.

Responsibilities

• Manage high value, multi-track personal injury and property damage claims
• Defend claims for insurers, local authorities and public sector bodies
• Handle complex liability issues and coverage disputes
• Collaborate with partner leads and colleagues across the national office network
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers within the team
• Manage own matters with autonomy and delegate effectively
• Contribute to ongoing growth and development of the department

Key requirements

• Strong experience handling high value personal injury and property damage claims
• Experience acting for insurers and/or public sector clients
• Ability to manage complex caseloads independently
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior colleagues
• Excellent client management skills with a commercial, pragmatic approach
