Overview

In this role you will lead health, safety, environmental and quality efforts within our rail construction environment. You will work closely with the Rail Department, driving compliance and continuous improvement across projects. You’ll tackle risk, investigations and reporting to minimise incidents and support safe, compliant delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role that shapes HS&E culture and training across teams and suppliers. You will contribute to a strong safety culture and ensure alignment with rail-specific regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HS&E in rail construction environments and major multi-discipline projects
  • Coordinate RISQS auditing/management to ensure supplier and project compliance
  • Investigate accidents/incidents, determine root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Produce HS&E reports and present findings to stakeholders and clients
  • Deliver HS&E training to employees and subcontractors
  • Guide and mentor HS&E teams in challenging environments
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and ISO 14001/45001 standards
  • Collaborate with clients, teams, and supply chain to drive safety improvements

Key requirements

  • IOSH Graduate member (perquisite)
  • NEBOSH certificated
  • In-depth knowledge of Rail HS&E requirements
  • RISQS auditing/management experience
  • Experience leading HS&E within rail construction and major projects
  • Experience in accident/incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • IIRCA certified internal auditor (HS&E)
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Strong collaboration and communication across all levels
  • Trainer capable to deliver HS&E training to employees and subcontractors
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of CDM regulation
