Principal Electrical Engineer (Building Services)

Overview

In this role you will lead electrical engineering for UK Building Services projects within WSP’s Property and Buildings arm. You’ll supervise detailed designs, manage resources, and ensure alignment with client expectations. You’ll guide feasibility studies, mentor staff, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality outcomes. Responsibilities

• Direct production of detailed and performance specifications for the discipline, reviewed by colleagues before issue
• Review design programmes and secure sufficient resources to meet technical and commercial targets
• Work autonomously on technical aspects of the discipline or bring specialist experience to the role
• Supervise completion of detailed designs and oversee others in this function
• Lead overall feasibility studies specific to the discipline
• Provide training and mentoring to staff

Key requirements

• Proven track record delivering UK Building Services projects (varied scale and sector)
• Strong stakeholder engagement with clients, contractors and design teams
• Ability to sketch and convey technical detail graphically to construction and client teams
• Solid understanding of relevant regulations and ability to demonstrate compliance through calculations
• Experience with electrical design software packages (AMTECH or Electrical OM)
• Experience with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to allocate/direction work on projects
• UK vetting level of Security Check (SC) (ability to obtain)
