Overview
In this role you drive manufacturing performance and product development for RF power, from design through production support and end-of-life. You will collaborate with manufacturing, supply, and project teams to resolve faults, improve processes, and ensure design-for-manufacture criteria are met. You help shape reliable, cost-effective production lines and provide technical input across the lifecycle of both new and existing products. This position sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and safety, offering meaningful impact on product quality and delivery at scale. You will work in a fast-paced, standards-driven environment with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Line problem solving from component fault finding to long-term corrective actions
- Collaborate with manufacturing and supply teams to achieve root cause resolution and sustainable fixes
- Investigate, document, and report faults on customer-owned products and implement improvements
- Provide manufacturing technical input throughout the production process
- Challenge conventions to drive cost reductions and easier manufacturing
- Manufacturing process development and analysis
- Create balanced, flexible production lines and maintain work instructions (SOPs)
- Develop and update configuration control documents and standard times
- Write and review process FMEA, control plans, and risk assessments, closing identified actions
- Develop mid-to-long-range improvement plans with stakeholders
- Support New Product Development and ensure DFM & DFA criteria are met
- Manage activities through NPI phase gates with BU Engineering and Project teams
- Understand component types, sources, and lead times
- Plan and control manufacturing change from concept to production, including permits and concessions
- Introduce new parts/tools into manufacturing and support pre-production parts supply
- Contribute to safety by supporting COSHH assessments and risk awareness
- Support bids with manufacturing data
Key requirements
- 5+ years in electronics test and manufacturing engineering
- Experience in electronics manufacturing support
- Strong communication to diverse audiences
- Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing philosophies (DFM/DFA)
- Experience with electrical and mechanical assembly, manufacturing, and test
- Ability to produce concise reports and effective presentations
- High self-motivation and creativity; independent thinker; good team player
- Strong analytical skills
- Fault finding to component level; knowledge of RF test techniques is beneficial
- Understanding of SPC data and calculations
- Security clearance capability (SC) requirements
