Overview

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design work packages from feasibility to handover
  • Develop heating, cooling, ventilation, water, controls and plant strategies with low-energy emphasis
  • Lead calculations, system selection, design analysis and technical decisions
  • Coordinate inputs across disciplines (architecture, structure, electrical, PHE, specialists)
  • Manage models, drawings, reports, specs and quality targets
  • Review work, guide junior engineers, and provide feedback
  • Plan discipline inputs, forecast time, coordinate resources, and support bids or client discussions

Key requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status or close to chartership
  • Strong practical understanding of mechanical services and plant coordination
  • Experience delivering mechanical design for new build, refurbishment or retrofit projects
  • Ability to lead design elements and coordinate small multidisciplinary teams
  • Interest in sustainable building design and operational performance
  • Experience with modelling tools such as IES, TAS, EnergyPlus or DesignBuilder
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, regulations, CIBSE guidance, health and safety and best practices
