Overview
In this role you will support the delivery of civil and structural design for rail and multi-sector projects within a collaborative, mentoring-focused environment. You’ll develop design solutions, work with 3D BIM platforms, and contribute to high-profile UK rail schemes while progressing toward Chartered Engineer status. You will liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure delivery aligns with time, budget, and quality targets. Responsibilities
- Support civil and structural design activities across rail and multi-sector projects
- Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
- Contribute to 3D design and BIM workflows using AECOSim, Revit and Civil 3D within a Common Data Environment
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges and deliver coordinated designs
- Assist in producing and managing project documentation to support programme, budget and quality objectives
- Participate in site visits and surveys, including rail environments
- Develop effective relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders
- Follow Arcadis systems, procedures and health and safety requirements and support a positive safety culture
- Pursue mentoring, training and on-the-job development to progress toward Chartered Engineer status
Key requirements
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Student or Graduate membership of ICE or IStructE
- Experience in civil and/or structural design, ideally in consultancy
- Rail sector exposure is advantageous
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status with ICE or IStructE
- Experience using civil engineering design software for deliverables
- Awareness of BIM principles and experience in a Common Data Environment
- Strong written and verbal communication, planning and organisational skills
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Proactive, collaborative and delivery-focused attitude; commitment to continuous learning
