Overview

As a Senior Process Engineer, you apply advanced process knowledge to improve engineering discipline outcomes for oil and gas projects. You will lead and mentor colleagues, solve complex design challenges, and ensure compliance with industry standards across multi-discipline interfaces. You help shape technical deliverables and drive efficient, safe, and cost-conscious project execution. This role offers impact through leading small projects, coordinating with suppliers and other engineers, and contributing to process safety and performance improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Engineering on small projects and direct the engineering team
  • Perform conceptual, FEED, studies and detailed design analyses per codes and standards
  • Prepare detailed design calculations, reports, and procedures
  • Manage time, deadlines, and budgets; develop work plans
  • Communicate complex issues clearly and foster understanding
  • Coordinate scope with inter-discipline teams and address early concerns
  • Raise change notices and variation orders with supporting documentation
  • Interface with all disciplines to develop clash-free designs
  • Review vendor/subcontractor submittals for compliance
  • Provide technical direction to Designers in Process Engineering
  • Mentor less experienced engineers on procedures, calculations, and software
  • Review and check others’ engineering work within the discipline
  • Prepare/process key deliverables: PFD, P&ID, datasheets, operating philosophy, manuals
  • Assist in bid proposals and technical queries; provide design inputs for other disciplines
  • Participate in audits and close out HAZOP actions
  • Assist in IDC inputs for layouts, safety studies, electrical loads, datasheets
  • Maintain awareness of project scope, costs, and discipline requirements

Key requirements

  • 8-15 years of experience in oil and gas with major contractor or consultants focusing on detail design
  • Strong knowledge of design techniques, analysis methods, and applicable standards and guidelines
  • Experience with multiple engineering disciplines, Fabrication Group, Safety Department, Document Control, Procurement, Subcontractors, Vendors, and Customers
  • Preferred: Registered Professional Engineer or professional engineering society member
