Overview
In this role you will join the Engineering Design Team to deliver high-quality water and wastewater designs in compliance with BG process, BMS, and H&S regulations. You’ll provide technical leadership, coordinate across disciplines, and support the supply chain and site activities. The position includes mentoring junior staff, contributing to discipline governance, and helping shape innovative design solutions. It offers the chance to work on major UK projects within a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality civil design for water and wastewater projects in line with GT processes and H&S standards
- Provide technical leadership and governance across discipline design activities
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and support early career progression
- Coordinate with Principal Engineers, Design Managers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated designs
- Support procurement, site activities, and liaise with clients on technical matters
- Attend design, progress, and site meetings and contribute to design activity schedules
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal functions to align design output with project schedules
- Ensure QA, H&S, and Integrated Management System requirements are met and maintained
Key requirements
- Degree-level education in Engineering or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience in Municipal Water and Wastewater design with multiple clients (e.g., Severn Trent, Scottish Water, Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Thames Water, Southern Water)
- Chartered member of a recognized professional engineering body (preferred)
- Contracting/consulting experience with commercial awareness
- Knowledge of civil design for water and wastewater systems (inlet works, final effluents, tanks, chambers, gravity and pressurised networks)
- Familiarity with current H&S legislation, British Standards, QA/H&S procedures, and NEC contracts
- Ability to produce and check calculations and reports
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities
- Experience in hydraulics and, optionally, structural design of water retaining structures
- Awareness of project schedules, design coordination, and multi-disciplinary collaboration
