Overview

In this role you drive the quality operations for global welding, NDE, and fabrication programs within an EPC context. You lead multiple teams, shape the Quality function strategy, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards. You will tackle complex technical and organizational challenges, supporting projects, products, and services to deliver safe, sustainable outcomes. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to implement robust quality plans and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and globally implement welding and NDE tools, processes, and systems
  • Support and align with the company’s global welding and NDE programs
  • Maintain competent resources across welding/NDE operations
  • Oversee Global QC Inspection Platform and its maintenance
  • Interface with Supply Chain on quality matters for vendors/subcontractors
  • Maintain global Quality Function documentation within the management system
  • Lead problem resolution for welding, NDE, and vendor quality issues
  • Develop and maintain Global Quality Control Fabrication and Construction Weld Inspection Platform
  • Engage with internal welding engineering and external groups (ASTM, DNV, EWI)
  • Oversee vendor/subcontractor prequalification and performance recommendations
  • Liaise with Area Management on technical issues with vendors/subcontractors
  • Support QA oversight via reviews, audits, and surveillance
  • Conduct root cause investigations and compile reports
  • Share welding/NDE lessons learned and update Management System
  • Maintain critical Quality competencies and project deliverables terms
  • Identify regulatory requirements relevant to scope and ensure compliance
  • Develop and implement Quality plans, procedures, and instructions
  • Assign Quality resources and support development
  • Manage Project Risk Register, Corrective Actions, and Non-conformances
  • Prequalify subcontractors/vendors for equipment and services
  • Plan and conduct project audits
  • Prepare and maintain Project Quality Activity Plans and performance reports
  • Coordinate training needs analysis and implementation
  • Provide SME support to QHSES training
  • Lead/participate in incident investigations and reporting
  • Contribute to look-ahead plans, lessons learned, and MOCs
  • Review/Approve subcontractors and vendors for equipment/services
  • Conduct site/facility reviews
  • Manage nonconformance reporting and corrective/preventive actions
  • Participate in kickoff, constructability, readiness reviews
  • Enforce compliance with McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure timely mandatory training by you and your teams

Key requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or equivalent
  • 15+ years in the Energy industry across all phases of EPCI project delivery
  • Extensive functional, industry, and leadership expertise
  • Professional membership in relevant institutions
  • Ability to work as a team member and as a team leader
  • Broad experience with technical activities related to the operation area
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and spoken)
  • Familiarity with local and international laws, codes, regulations, and norms
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
