Overview

In this role, you will help deliver high-voltage transmission and substation projects within a growing SSEN Transmission team, contributing from feasibility through commissioning. You will work on large-scale infrastructure that supports the UK’s net-zero transition, collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders to design and deliver safe, high-quality engineering solutions. You’ll produce deliverables, apply safety by design, and drive continuous improvement across projects. This is a mission-driven opportunity to shape the grid of the future while working from Scotland and across challenging technical domains.

Responsibilities

  • Support development, design and delivery of HV transmission and substation projects from feasibility to commissioning
  • Produce and review engineering deliverables, specifications, and scope documents
  • Apply safety by design principles to manage engineering, construction and operational risks
  • Collaborate with project teams, contractors, consultants and stakeholders to deliver solutions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and technical excellence across the engineering community

Key requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, HND or equivalent qualification or significant relevant experience
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive and collaborative approach with a willingness to learn and contribute
  • Experience in electricity transmission, distribution, generation or related infrastructure is advantageous for Senior Engineer
