Overview

In this role you help steer Airwallex’s UK regulatory posture by leading licensing engagements, regulatory reporting, and examinations. You will partner with cross-functional teams to implement compliant product and process solutions that scale across the UK market. You’ll advise on changes in UK laws and FCA rules, and support risk management within the 2LOD framework. This position sits in the EMEA Regulatory Compliance Team, offering a hands-on opportunity to shape regulatory strategy and governance in a fast-growing fintech.

Responsibilities

  • Manage regulatory licensing components and authorisation processes to support UK expansion
  • Coordinate licensing applications, business plan updates, and regulator information requests
  • Maintain UK regulatory reporting obligations for all Airwallex Group entities in the UK
  • Support on-site exams, inspections and audits in collaboration with RCD colleagues
  • Advise on regulatory change initiatives and how they impact compliance risks under UK laws and FCA rules
  • Develop and maintain policies and guidance for regulatory risk obligations in the 1st line of business
  • Oversee regulatory risk management within the Airwallex Risk Management Framework and governance forums
  • Advise on conduct risk, Consumer Duty, complaints governance, and ethics as they relate to financial licences
  • Deliver the Compliance Monitoring Program through targeted reviews and maintain organisational maturity
  • Provide Compliance Training and ad-hoc training to various business areas
  • Lead Proactive Special Ops projects to unlock regulatory or operational issues impacting strategic goals
  • Engage with regulators (including FCA) on ad-hoc inquiries and licensing matters

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with regulatory compliance experience in financial institution/FinTech/legal or consulting context
  • Familiarity with UK financial regulatory laws, FCA rules and best practices
  • Data proficiency for strategic decision-making
  • Strategic and creative problem-solving in regulatory compliance
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex topics to regulators, executives, and staff
  • Experience developing or maintaining a compliance program in payments and e-money
  • Exposure to licensing processes, regulatory reporting, and RegTech solutions
  • Understanding of financial products, conduct risk, ethics, and controls
  • Preferred: experience dealing with FCA and FOS escalations
