Quantity Surveyor

Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor in a specialist steel fabricator, you will provide commercial support across live projects, working with Contract and Project Managers to keep financial and contractual matters controlled. You’ll monitor costs, prepare cost/value reconciliations, and support procurement and negotiations to protect value. You’ll liaise with clients and the project team, guiding projects toward final accounts and timely conclusions. The role offers exposure to major UK infrastructure work, including rail projects, within a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Support valuations, applications, variations, and day-to-day commercial management
• Monitor project costs against quotes and identify discrepancies early
• Maintain cost-value reconciliations, financial reports, and commercial records
• Assist with procurement, pricing, and agreeing costs with suppliers and subcontractors
• Liaise with clients and professional teams for meetings and negotiations
• Help bring projects to final account and meet deadlines

Key requirements

• Quantity Surveying experience in construction
• Experience with NEC and JCT contracts
• A relevant Quantity Surveying qualification
• Understanding of construction processes and cost movement on live projects
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Methodical approach to financial and commercial information
• Full UK driving licence
• CSCS certification (ideal)
• Rail environment or rail project experience (ideal)
