Overview
As a Junior Electrical Design Engineer, you will contribute to designing electrical control systems for bespoke material handling equipment. You’ll work within a supportive engineering team, gaining exposure across the project lifecycle from concept to commissioning and receiving mentorship from senior engineers. You’ll develop your technical knowledge while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring designs meet electrical standards and quality procedures. Responsibilities
- Assist with designing electrical control systems for bespoke material handling equipment
- Create and update electrical schematics and technical documentation using Electrical CAD software
- Support specification of electrical components, control panels and cabling
- Assist with PLC and VFD configurations
- Collaborate with manufacturing and commissioning teams for testing and fault finding
- Contribute to developing and validating new electrical designs
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering department
- Ensure designs comply with electrical standards and company quality procedures
- Learn from and work with senior engineers to build technical knowledge
Key requirements
- Degree, HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
- Around 1 year’s experience in an Electrical Design role
- Experience designing electrical control panels
- Basic PLC knowledge and experience
- Experience using Electrical CAD software to produce schematics
- Experience working on material handling equipment (desirable)
