Overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer at GKN Filton you will help translate concepts into robust production processes for large, complex aerospace components. You’ll work within a small team to deliver zero-defect manufacturing and continuous improvement across machining, fabrication, and assembly. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to manage changes, solve technical issues, and optimise efficiency while upholding safety and quality standards. Responsibilities

  • Implement materials and process methods from concept to production
  • Lead and manage complex projects from approval to production and delivery
  • Apply Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) methodologies and track process capability
  • Coordinate change requests and provide technical feedback to customers
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing development and production integration
  • Resolve vendor quality issues and develop change implementation plans
  • Improve efficiency and product quality while reducing non-conforming parts
  • Apply root-cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent defects
  • Promote safety compliance with HSE policies
  • Foster lean initiatives and continuous process improvement
  • Maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships

Key requirements

  • HNC/HND in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Flexible and able to manage changing priorities
  • Desirable: knowledge of LEAN techniques
  • Desirable: SAP or similar business software
  • Desirable: CMII qualification
  • Desirable: BSc in Engineering
  • Desirable: Prince2 or equivalent project management qualification
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Autonomous with ability to work in a team
  • Reading engineering drawings and specifications
  • Lean tools and techniques
