Structural Engineer

Overview

Join Arup’s Building Engineering team in Sheffield as a Structural Engineer. You’ll contribute to multidisciplinary projects focused on sustainability and the transition to net-zero carbon, working on a mix of new builds and refurbishments across sectors. You will deliver packages from inception to completion, mentoring juniors and collaborating with specialists to shape high-impact structures. This role blends technical design with communication and digital workflows in a global, inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Support structural design on projects by taking ownership of discrete work packages
• Demonstrate and communicate design concepts through sketches, drawings, presentations, and writing
• Check work (own and peers) and provide constructive feedback
• Manage priorities to meet deadlines
• Mentor junior team members

Key requirements

• Degree-qualified and pursuing or achieved chartership (IStructE, ICE, or equivalent)
• Strong engineering principles and design software proficiency
• Buildings-focused structural engineering experience
• Developing experience with Eurocode or equivalent
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of project parts
• Good understanding of digital workflows
• Interest in low- and zero-carbon design
