As Investment Managing Director, you will steer the strategic investment direction for a portfolio of 86,000 homes, maximizing value and long-term sustainability. You will work with cross-functional teams and external partners to optimise asset performance, reinvestment, and regeneration at scale. The role blends strategic oversight with hands-on governance to align investment with customer outcomes and the organisation’s mission. You’ll lead major regeneration and decarbonisation initiatives, shaping funding strategies and stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction of portfolio investment and optimise asset performance across 86,000 homes
- Determine interventions across reinvestment, retrofit, regeneration, redevelopment, disposal and replacement
- Shape funding strategies and secure investment with public and private partners
- Oversee major regeneration and decarbonisation programmes and large-scale capital decisions
- Translate strategy into delivery through a team of directors and cross-functional leaders
- Embed Homes & Place Standard in investment decision-making and maintain high standards in assets
- Manage governance and risk in a publicly accountable environment
- Foster external relationships with Homes England, National Housing Bank, GLA, authorities and investors
Key requirements
- Senior-level experience in housing, real estate, investment, or related sector with responsibility for large asset portfolios
- Proven corporate leadership experience shaping and delivering strategy in multi-stakeholder settings
- Deep expertise in strategic asset management, regeneration, retrofit, or development and large-scale capital decisions
- Strong financial acumen including portfolio-level capital allocation, P&L accountability, and risk management
- Experience structuring complex funding arrangements, including public funding and partnerships; equity investment experience preferred
- Proven ability to lead through senior leaders, aligning performance and culture across functions
- Exceptional relationship-building skills and ability to influence at high levels across sectors
- Strong governance and risk management capability in high-value, publicly accountable environments
