Overview
In this role you lead the overhead line maintenance for the SSEN Transmission network in the North East, Tayside & Argyll region. You will supervise a maintenance team, coordinate inspections and repairs, and ensure safe, compliant operation of transmission assets. You’ll shape maintenance strategy with a focus on cost efficiency, quality, and operational growth, while maintaining a resilient network during storms and events. This is a hands-on leadership role in a critical grid area with a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance team to complete inspections, planned works and urgent repairs safely and to high standards
- Provide clear leadership and guidance in line with the SSEN Leadership Blueprint; identify opportunities for cost savings and quality improvements
- Manage performance and budget forecasts, ensure accurate Opex reporting and KPIs
- Oversee 24/7 network operational response and coordinate actions during major events (storms, exceptional events)
- Foster a safety-first culture and contribute to policies/procedures for safe, compliant working practices across the network
Key requirements
- Extensive experience in operation and maintenance of Overhead Line assets; familiarity with ISO 55000 preferred
- Experience leading a team in overhead line maintenance; Senior Authorised Person experience advantageous
- Strong dedication to safety and understanding of ISO 55000, ESQCR, CDM and Health and Safety at Work regulations
- Excellent administrative, written and verbal communication skills; proficient data management
- Full valid driving licence and willingness to travel across the operational area
- Competence in Microsoft Office
