Overview
In this role you combine independent research with advanced clinical training to achieve CCT and full registration. You join a vibrant, supportive academic environment at Leeds that funds and mentors your nascent research program while you complete specialist training. You will develop and lead a research portfolio aligned with LIMR interests and contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A strong emphasis is placed on grant activity, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration to progress your academic career.

Responsibilities
- Develop and run an independent research programme in parallel with clinical specialty training
- Align research activities with LIMR interests and opportunities at St James’s
- Apply for research funding with senior academic support and mentoring
- Provide undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
- Demonstrate evidence of a PhD/MD by start date and ensure degree awarded by take-up
- Operate within 50% research and 50% clinical training throughout the post
- Collaborate with clinical and academic colleagues across NHS Trust and University
- Engage in career progression planning and mentorship activities
Key requirements
- Minimum level of ST3 and a National Training Number in higher specialty training
- PhD/MD submitted at application and fully awarded by take-up
- Due to location, ability to work across University of Leeds and NHS Trust premises
- Availability to start by 1 September 2027
