Overview
In this role you drive environmental excellence across major water and wastewater projects in the UK. You will work with the environment team to support design and operation staff, shaping risk mitigation and regulatory compliance. You’ll coordinate inputs across ecology, archaeology, geomorphology and other disciplines while liaising with regulators and clients. The role offers impact through wastewater treatment and flood risk reduction initiatives under AMP8 partnerships, with strong development pathways toward chartership.

Responsibilities
- Identify environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle and develop mitigation measures
- Coordinate inputs from heritage, ecology, geomorphology and related areas to meet standards and timelines
- Produce environmental deliverables at milestones (eg, EIA screening, environmental management plans)
- Lead liaison with environmental regulators and communicate with team members and stakeholders
- Engage with clients on environmental and consenting matters and build relationships
- Demonstrate broad understanding of environmental disciplines with deeper expertise in at least one area
- Plan, organise and control environmental aspects to ensure project success
- Solve problems methodically and deliver results within short timeframes
Key requirements
- Experience in environmental management for projects in water/associated sectors (desirable)
- Awareness of planning processes, surveys, permits and consents for construction activities
- Experience producing environmental permit applications (eg flood risk, Tree Protection Orders, groundwater permits) (desirable)
- Ability to promote sustainability initiatives and biodiversity considerations (desirable)
- Chartered status or active towards chartership (desirable)
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel (desirable)
