Finance Manager

Overview

In this Finance Manager role, you will lead the financial heartbeat of a £7m FMCG retail business in North Cumbria, reporting to the Finance Director. You will produce management accounts with insightful commentary, drive process improvements, and support statutory reporting and audits. You’ll manage a small team, oversee cashflow, AP/AR, and balance sheet reconciliations, and partner with the wider business to enable sustainable growth. This role offers a hands-on, impact-driven opportunity in a supportive, wellbeing-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Prepare management accounts for the Board with commentary and top-line analysis
• Complete VAT Returns, corporation tax calculations, reconciliations, and HMRC processes
• Drive continual improvement through regular review of processes and development of platforms
• Liaise with external auditors and assist in the annual audit to produce statutory accounts
• Manage, mentor, motivate and appraise a team of 4 staff
• Oversee management of AP, AR, balance sheet reconciliations and Cashflow activities

Key requirements

• 5 years (min) experience in a similar role
• CIMA / ACCA qualification (QBE considered)
• Confident communicator across the wider business
• Self-starter
• Strong IT skills including advanced Excel and knowledge of ERP systems
