Overview

In this role you design, program, and support industrial control systems to boost process performance and uptime. You’ll work with operations, electrical, and mechanical teams to deliver automation projects from concept to startup and continual improvement. You will develop reliable PLC, SCADA, and HMI solutions while ensuring safety and maintainability. This is a hands-on position with a strong impact on system reliability and efficiency within a manufacturing setting. You will collaborate cross-functionally to drive continuous improvements and on-site commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and debug PLC systems for manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Develop, configure, and maintain SCADA and HMI applications for monitoring and control
  • Create and review electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams per standards
  • Commission, startup, and validate control systems on-site; perform field troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
  • Coordinate with procurement and vendors to specify control components
  • Implement upgrades and retrofits with minimal production disruption
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation (control narratives, I/O lists, PLC comments, test plans, SOPs)
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and company policies
  • Support maintenance and operations with troubleshooting, spare parts, and training
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance reliability, efficiency, and maintainability

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical/Controls/Mechatronics or related field
  • Proven PLC-based control system development and commissioning experience in industrial/manufacturing settings
  • Hands-on SCADA and HMI development experience
  • Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, panel design, and wiring practices
  • Familiarity with PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Blocks)
  • Experience with industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, OPC)
  • Experience with instrumentation, sensors, motor control, VFDs, and I/O integration
  • Solid troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of safety standards (IEC, NFPA 70E) and machine safety concepts
