Overview

As Senior Associate/Associate in Cardiff, you will lead a varied employment caseload within a national law firm’s Employment and HR Services team. You will drive a high-profile group action in the Employment Tribunal and help shape the claimant offering, while supporting respondent matters and client care. The role combines strategic advisory work, advocacy, and team leadership to grow a high-performing employer-side practice. You will also contribute to seminars, articles, and the firm’s marketing and business plan, working closely with colleagues across the team. This is a chance to impact complex litigation, scale expertise, and advance a claimant-focused strategy in a hybrid setup.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of employment matters with emphasis on claimant litigation
  • Lead and oversee a complex group action from inception to resolution
  • Develop and grow a high-performing claimant employment law team
  • Provide strategic legal advice to claimants with strong client care
  • Support respondent work including unfair dismissal, discrimination, TUPE, restructuring, redundancies, settlements, policies, and contracts
  • Deliver seminars/webinars, write articles, and contribute to marketing and social media
  • Support the department’s business plan through networking, training, and relationship building
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Employment and HR Services team

Key requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ PQE in employment law
  • Strong track record in claimant litigation, including group or multi-party actions
  • Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and case management skills
  • Leadership experience supervising junior team members
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Proven ability to build and maintain excellent client relationships
