Overview
In this Associate Director role, you will lead the expansion of our Natural Resources and New Energies offering in Manchester, while delivering on planning and project controls for major programmes. You’ll develop and mentor the Manchester team, manage key client relationships, and drive scalable growth. You’ll work closely with the Natural Resources North leadership and cross-functional cost centres to ensure delivery excellence. Responsibilities
- Lead on expansion and recruitment in Manchester with NRN SLT support
- Deliver planning and project controls across major programmes (60–80% of time)
- Propose and review bids and proposals
- Mentor and coach team members
- Collaborate with cost centres and onboarding of new starts
- Establish a leadership team in Manchester to support growth
- Focus on health, safety and wellbeing of the team
- Support resourcing planning and liaison with client planning to resolve bottlenecks
- Provide reporting support on plans, costs, safety, environment and programme performance
- Monitor data input and ensure adherence to data standards

- Natural Resources and New Energies experience
- Proven business development experience
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Strong understanding of strategic resource management
- Adaptability and resilience
- Evidence of an established management and leadership approach
- Knowledge of reputational, commercial and financial risk
- Proficiency in oral and written communication
- PMO experience within planning and project controls, preferably with Natural Resources and New Energies focus
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office; understanding of procurement, contracts, construction and start-up processes
- Knowledge of Aberdeen market and digital PMO would be advantageous
