Overview

In this Senior SHE Advisor role at Devonport Royal Dockyard you lead health and safety governance in a high-hazard environment. You’ll evaluate compliance, challenge unsafe practices, and drive continuous improvement across operations and suppliers. Your expertise shapes safety culture and informs decision-making with regulators and internal stakeholders. You’ll work closely with managers to uphold legal and contractual safety obligations and deliver credible safety insights. Responsibilities

• Deliver health and safety audits and assurance across operations and suppliers
• Identify non‑compliance and drive corrective and preventative actions
• Provide specialist safety advice and risk management guidance to managers and teams
• Produce safety reports and management information for decision-making
• Engage with regulators and external authorities (HSE, emergency services)
• Assess compliance and challenge unsafe practices to drive continuous improvement

Key requirements

• Proven experience conducting health and safety audits in complex or high-risk environments
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, standards and contractual requirements
• Experience identifying non‑compliance and driving corrective and preventative actions
• Confidence influencing stakeholders at all levels, including senior management
• Experience working with regulators and external authorities
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate
• SC security clearance (to be obtained)
• Experience using structured HSE management systems and assurance frameworks (desirable)
