Vice President, Alternative Credit – CLOs

Overview

In this role you join Ares’ Alternative Credit Group in London to focus on European CLO debt and equity. You will evaluate new investments, monitor portfolios, and interact with CLO managers and counterparties, applying qualitative and quantitative methods to assess risk and value. You will collaborate with credit research and cross-functional teams to strengthen the investment process. This position sits within a high-performing, growth-oriented platform offering meaningful ways to shape investment decisions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new CLO investments (debt and equity tranches), including structure, collateral, and manager assessments
• Apply qualitative and quantitative analyses and scenario analyses to assess risk/value of investments
• Prepare and present investment theses with clear risk and return articulation
• Monitor assigned portfolios to identify performance trends and emerging risks
• Regularly meet with CLO managers to discuss credits, activity, risk, and potential business
• Collaborate with credit research to assess credit risks
• Participate in client meetings and represent the team professionally
• Contribute to team projects to improve investment processes

Key requirements

• Higher level undergraduate degree
• Four to seven years of direct CLO experience
• Self-motivated with ability to work in a fast-moving, dynamic environment
• Strong verbal and written communication to articulate investment risk and value
• Intellectual curiosity, creative problem-solving, adaptability
• Willingness to learn new skills/tech for the team’s platform
• European language abilities considered a plus
