Overview
As Senior Project Risk Management Professional/Director, you lead the Scotland Infrastructure Risk team within Turner & Townsend’s consultancy-focused environment. You partner with clients and internal teams to shape risk capabilities, drive improvements, and deliver better programme outcomes on complex infrastructure projects. You will mentor a rising risk function, influence client strategy, and contribute to national risk management communities. This role offers scope to innovate, collaborate across disciplines, and advance Scotland’s risk management maturity with a high-performing team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and delegate activities of the Risk Management team on complex projects or programmes
- Communicate with senior management and stakeholders to provide updates
- Brief project teams on scope and ensure clear roles and responsibilities
- Build leadership relationships with interfacing disciplines; line management and performance development
- Drive continuous improvement of risk management processes and embed changes
- Promote risk management benefits within project teams
- Provide subject matter expertise and expert analysis (e.g., QCRA, QSRA) to stakeholders
- Train and coach clients and junior staff on risk management practices
- Support management of risk team and related business operations including recruitment
- Engage with national and regional Risk Management communities and Communities of Practice
Key requirements
- Proven experience delivering risk management on complex projects/programmes
- Experience interfacing with other project disciplines
- Experience leading risk management teams
- Knowledge of risk standards (ISO31000, APM, Orange Book, IPA) and Quantitative Risk Analysis
- Proficiency with risk software (Safran, @risk, PRA) and tools (ARM, Predict!, Risk Controller, riskHive, Xactium)
- Desirable: delivery and transformation project experience; NEC contracts familiarity; security clearance
