Overview
In this role you will deliver and coordinate civil design for mission-critical community development projects. You will work independently and with a team to produce drawings and specifications, ensuring alignment with municipal standards and QA/QC requirements. You’ll collaborate across disciplines to address complex site grading, utilities, and drainage challenges, while guiding junior staff and shaping best practices. This position offers impact through shaping resilient, scalable infrastructure across Alberta North.

Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering drawings for site grading and site servicing (water, sanitary, storm, shallow utilities) and erosion control design
- Coordinate with disciplines (offsite roadway, water/wastewater, environmental) to deliver design drawings and requirements
- Perform technical reviews of engineering drawings
- Prepare construction specifications
- Provide internal peer review of designs by other engineers/technologists
- Interface between design and construction teams
- Review construction submittals for conformance with design drawings
- Assist field review team with technical design queries
- Develop design procedures and best practices for mission critical projects
- Ensure compliance with municipal specifications and Stantec QA/QC program
- Coordinate and review deliverables from junior engineers
- Support other land development projects (residential/commercial) as needed
Key requirements
- Thorough understanding of land development (grading, sewer/water, shallow utilities, roadways, lot design, stormwater)
- Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to coordinate with planning and landscape architecture
- Team player with collaborative approach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and BlueBeam
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and PEng with APEGA preferred but not required
- Experience in Edmonton area and minimum 5 years of related land development preferred
