Overview
As Commercial Manager you will own the commercial delivery of the project, liaising with stakeholders and guiding value, cost and risk. You will oversee procurement, cashflow, and contract changes to protect margin on major substations projects in the UK. The role sits with a specialist team off-site for early project stages, supporting ambitious energy infrastructure in a sustainability-focused business. You will shape commercial strategy, improve project performance, and work closely with the Project Director and planning to drive outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial aspects of the project and liaise with stakeholders
- Lead monthly cost and value reconciliation reviews
- Handle contract changes, variations, claims and early warning processes
- Maintain and mitigate project risk through the risk register with the Project Director
- Support and guide the project commercial team daily
- Oversee procurement to secure commercially advantageous procurement
- Maximise cash position including WIP control and cash flow improvements
- Monitor contractor costs weekly and report cost performance to the construction team
- Assist in management of the programme with the Project Director and Planning Manager
- Pursue ongoing improvements to commercial performance, including margin improvement and change control
Key requirements
- Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent
- substantial experience in a commercial role within Civil Engineering / Construction
