Overview

Join Gleeds as a senior cost management professional responsible for managing budgets across construction projects, from initial cost advice to final account settlement. You will support Business Unit Directors, nurture client relationships, and ensure cost deliverables meet customer requirements. You will lead cost planning, option studies, procurement strategies, tendering, and post-contract cost management, while mentoring the team. This role blends technical cost control with contract administration to drive profitable, high-quality project delivery in a global firm focused on value and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Support Business Unit Directors in delivering objectives
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships
  • Deliver cost management deliverables aligned with customer requirements
  • Manage projects to ensure high-quality services and deliverables
  • Prepare and present cost estimates and option studies
  • Cost planning and cost-in-use studies
  • Advise on and implement procurement strategies
  • Prepare tender documents, manage tender process and marking schemes
  • Evaluate tenders and report findings
  • Value completed work and arrange payments
  • Settle final accounts
  • Provide technical advice on legal/contractual issues
  • Administer contracts as Contract Administrator or Employer’s Agent
  • Produce and present customer reports
  • Mentor and coach staff to reach potential
  • Identify new business opportunities and drive growth
  • Prepare bids for services
  • Manage service delivery for profit
  • Inform Directors promptly of issues impacting PI insurance

Key requirements

  • Sound cost management experience post MRICS
  • Practical cost estimating and planning experience
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods/materials
  • Experience with procurement strategies, tendering and contracts
  • Post-contract cost management experience
  • Clear written and oral communication skills
  • Methodical, organized, adaptable to change
  • Excellent numerical, negotiating and financial management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to digest complex information and assess requirements
  • Understanding of legislation affecting building contracts
