Overview

In this role, you will lead a portfolio of significant construction and engineering projects within Yorkshire Water’s capital delivery Alliance. You will drive delivery from development through handover, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to improve services for customers while protecting the environment. The position offers strategic influence on how the Alliance operates and requires delivering on time, cost, and quality targets. A strong leadership role with cross-functional collaboration and impact on core infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee delivery of a portfolio of large construction and engineering projects (40–70m in value)
  • Lead projects from development through design, construction, handover and close-out
  • Maintain governance, delivery plans, forecasts, and performance reporting with clear escalation of risks
  • Lead project managers and multidisciplinary teams including consultants, contractors and supply-chain partners
  • Manage commercial and contractual aspects, including NEC contract administration, changes, risks and opportunities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure customer, environmental and regulatory outcomes
  • Ensure safety and wellbeing standards and promote environmental performance and professional practice

Key requirements

  • Strong experience leading complex construction, engineering, infrastructure or utility projects through full life cycle
  • Experience managing several projects simultaneously with large budgets and diverse stakeholders
  • Good commercial and contractual knowledge with practical NEC contract experience
  • Experience of health and safety management in a construction environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication with relationship-building and issue resolution skills
  • Relevant project management or technical qualification, professional accreditation, or equivalent experience
  • NEC accreditation and SMSTS would be an advantage
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel regularly to Yorkshire Water sites
