Overview

In this role you shape electrical design for water and wastewater projects within a collaborative Water Team. You’ll contribute across full design stages, ensure compliance with standards, and work with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions. You’ll drive digital design enhancements and mentor junior staff, contributing to projects for major water utilities. Responsibilities

  • Design and review electrical and ICA elements for water and wastewater projects
  • Conduct site surveys and liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers
  • Create load schedules, single line diagrams, MCC general arrangements, and instrument schedules
  • Perform electrical installation and cable calculations; manage PLC/SCADA systems and control philosophy
  • Contribute to P&IDs, site surveys, and data gathering; generate technical reports
  • Engage in feasibility to construction design stages ensuring compliance with standards
  • Collaborate with other discipline teams and communicate with clients throughout design
  • Delegate tasks, mentor junior staff, and support bid preparation and client engagement
  • Deliver design outputs within budgets and timelines for multiple water clients
  • Produce and review client deliverables including calculations, drawings, and reports
  • Support AECOM’s digital strategy using BIM, ProjectWise, intelligent P&ID’s, and in-house tools

Key requirements

  • Proven design experience in water and wastewater engineering with multidisciplinary knowledge
  • BEng or MEng in a related engineering field; Chartered or near-Chartered status
  • Experience as a senior engineer in a consultancy within the water sector
  • Experience managing projects, delegating tasks, and mentoring technical staff
  • Strong collaboration and client-facing communication skills
  • Familiarity with design standards and project delivery across feasibility to construction stages
