Overview
In this role, you will lead electrical design for water and wastewater projects, shaping safe, compliant infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and guide projects from feasibility to construction. The position emphasizes mentoring, bid leadership, and digital design tools to improve quality and efficiency. You’ll work with high-profile water clients and contribute to AECOM’s digital strategy to deliver impactful, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities
- Lead and review electrical/ICA design in water/wastewater projects; conduct site surveys and liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers
- Prepare load schedules, single-line diagrams, MCC general arrangements, instrument schedules, and electrical installation calculations
- Develop PLC/SCADA concepts, control philosophy, URS, specifications and technical reports; contribute to P&ID inputs and data gathering
- Engage in all design stages (Feasibility to Construction) ensuring compliance with design standards
- Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver high-quality solutions; communicate with clients throughout
- Delegate tasks and mentor junior staff; provide bid leadership and client interface for proposals
- Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of quality designs for clients; review calculations, drawings and reports for standards
- Support and shape AECOM’s digital offerings (BIM, Projectwise, intelligent P&IDs, in-house tools) on projects
- Participate in delivery to clients such as Severn Trent Water, Yorkshire Water, Wessex Water, etc.
Key requirements
- Extensive design experience delivering large-scale water engineering projects with multi-disciplinary knowledge
- Chartered member of a relevant Professional Institution
- Proven leadership, mentoring, and line management experience
- Strong collaboration and coordination skills with teams, clients and stakeholders
