Senior Heritage Consultant

Overview

In this role you will lead and grow SLR’s heritage services across UK and European projects, partnering with multidisciplinary teams to integrate heritage considerations into design, planning, and delivery. You will manage a portfolio of historic environment projects, from assessments to investigations, while nurturing client relationships and contributing to regional growth. You’ll work on high-impact sectors (renewables, infrastructure, regeneration) and help shape sustainable outcomes through expert heritage guidance. Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver a range of historic environment and heritage projects
• Manage project programmes, budgets and client relationships
• Provide expert advice on heritage constraints and opportunities for design and planning
• Prepare high-quality heritage reports, including Desk-Based Assessments and ES chapters
• Design and manage archaeological investigations and mitigation strategies
• Support business development, including proposals and client engagement
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project outcomes

Key requirements

• Extensive experience delivering UK heritage or archaeological projects across multiple sectors
• Strong understanding of UK planning policy, heritage legislation and guidance
• Proven project management and client-facing experience with financial oversight
• Experience preparing technical reports and managing desk-based and field investigations
• A relevant heritage, archaeology or related degree (or equivalent experience)
• Strong communication skills and ability to present complex information clearly
