Overview

In this Mechanical Engineer role within AECOM’s Building Engineering team in Perth, you will lead mechanical design for diverse building projects across ANZ, focusing on quality, cost-effective outcomes. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated HVAC and building services solutions and mentor junior engineers. This position supports the firm’s mission to deliver a better world through sustainable, technically robust infrastructure. You’ll work on high-profile projects across health, defence, transport, and data centres, shaping design across complex buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design packages on client projects and support technical delivery of HVAC and building services systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality across calculations, specifications and design documentation
  • Work with senior engineers and project leaders to deliver coordinated solutions on complex building projects
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and junior engineers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and clients to drive successful outcomes and repeat business

Key requirements

  • Chartered Engineer with professional engineer registration or working towards chartership (or equivalent)
  • Ideally 9+ years’ experience in Building Services consultancy or mechanical engineering within contracting field
  • Proven mechanical design and project delivery experience across building services
  • Strong understanding of Building Services systems and Australian Standards
  • Experience delivering multiple projects simultaneously across various sectors
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach
