Overview
As an experienced Associate with electrical expertise, you will lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for hyperscale and enterprise data centres from our Edinburgh office. You will manage engineers, supervise budgets and schedules, and ensure high-quality design outputs. You will foster long-term client relationships to maximise repeat business while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver technically excellent projects. You will shape design strategy around resilience and power distribution and contribute to project-management processes. Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for hyperscale and enterprise-level data centres
- Produce and oversee electrical schematics, reports, specifications, and detailed layouts
- Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of engineers to ensure high-quality design output and commercial performance
- Coordinate closely with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of design systems
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, building long-term relationships and repeat business
- Review and approve designs to ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and client specifications
- Contribute to internal project-management processes including fee tracking, progress monitoring, and programme delivery
- Be involved in design strategy, advising on system resilience, redundancy, and power distribution methodologies
- Participate in site inspections, technical meetings, commissioning activities, and post-occupancy reviews
Key requirements
- A Chartered Engineer, educated to degree level in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
- Significant experience in a consulting engineering role within the data centre sector (preferred)
- Proven customer- and quality-focused approach with experience in client management
- Experience in managing small-to-medium scale projects and small teams of engineers
