Overview

As a Senior/Principal Engineer in the Liveable Places team, you will lead the delivery of sustainable transport and public realm schemes from concept through to on-site implementation. You will manage programmes, budgets and risk, while building strong client relationships and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. Your role supports WSP’s placemaking and transport objectives and contributes to a collaborative, growth-focused team culture. This is a hybrid, Newcastle-based opportunity within a global engineering firm that values innovation and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of multiple sustainable transport and public realm projects from concept to construction
  • Manage programmes, budgets, risks and change control to ensure safe, efficient delivery
  • Act as primary client contact, fostering proactive project leadership and relationships
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, contractors and stakeholders
  • Support project delivery in line with WSP frameworks, APM best practice and health and safety requirements
  • Contribute to collaborative, high-performing team culture and growth of Liveable Places

Key requirements

  • Experience delivering highways, public realm or transport infrastructure from concept to construction
  • Proven ability to manage project programmes, budgets and financial reporting across multiple live projects
  • Experience developing and managing project risk registers and governance
  • Understanding of design development and coordination of multidisciplinary teams
  • Proactive, collaborative, delivery-focused approach with strong communication and organisation
