Overview

You will lead Wellcome’s paid media and email marketing efforts, shaping a unified digital marketing strategy across Trust and Collection teams. You’ll drive audience growth, engagement, and conversion through data-led experimentation and cross-functional collaboration. This role combines strategic direction with hands-on optimization to strengthen Wellcome’s reputation and advance its mission. You’ll work with partners, academics, and content teams to reach diverse audiences at scale and with impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and delivery of a unified digital marketing strategy for paid media and email communications
  • Coordinate organisation-wide audience growth, engagement, and conversion initiatives
  • Promote best practices in digital marketing across teams and ensure alignment with Wellcome’s mission and priorities
  • Leverage data, experimentation, and AI-enabled insights to optimise performance and deepen engagement
  • Collaborate with Wellcome Collection Comms & Marketing to optimise use of digital channels and data
  • Oversee planning, buying, and optimisation across paid search, paid social, display, video, native and emerging channels
  • Ensure paid activity supports organisational priorities and reaches target audiences
  • Manage relationships with media agencies, platform managers, and external partners
  • Lead a unified newsletter strategy for Wellcome Trust and Wellcome Collection
  • Maintain a digital marketing calendar coordinating paid and email activity with organic content plans
  • Work closely with programme, brand, content and product teams to align campaigns with priorities
  • Collaborate with the digital channels manager to ensure integrated campaigns across channels

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in digital marketing with strong paid media planning, buying, and optimisation
  • Experience leading email and newsletter programmes including segmentation, automation, and performance optimisation
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of data-driven decision making and experimentation
  • Strong project management skills supporting complex, multi-channel campaigns
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under pressure
