Overview
In this role you lead the Manufacturing Engineering Team to optimise shop floor performance and manufacturing processes. You align workload, targets and training with the site’s lean objectives, driving continuous improvement and effective gauging, tooling and 3D-model based deployment for new product launches. You work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to reduce wastes, improve process capability and deliver reliable manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor the Manufacturing Engineering team, including shop floor staff and personnel development
- Direct work allocations, scheduling and review of work in progress
- Support performance reviews and training/development actions
- Introduce and embed lean processes in manufacturing
- Identify and drive key process improvement projects with the Manager
- Facilitate deployment of methods based on 3D models for product launches
- Establish standard times to minimise wastes and improve efficiency
- Support creation, review and approval of gauging, fixtures and special tooling
- Provide cross-department technical support on-site and globally
- Oversee shop floor support resource allocation and action follow-ups
Key requirements
- BSc Degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing Engineering/Leadership (preferred)
- HNC/HND in Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing Engineering
- Progressive experience in manufacturing/process engineering
- Experience with Lean methodologies and Zero Defects
- Knowledge of machining practices (Mill/Turn, 5 Axis Milling, Grinding, Gear Cutting, Spark/Wire Eroding, Honing/Lapping)
