Overview
As a Drainage Engineer, you will support a National Highways framework by delivering drainage assessments, feasible designs, and construction support through to scheme delivery. You’ll work within a specialist drainage team to enhance network resilience and guide project outcomes for communities. You’ll apply modelling tools, site data, and multidisciplinary input to develop robust, sustainable solutions. This role offers collaboration across councils, contractors, and environmental specialists in a safety-focused, hybrid-working culture.

Responsibilities
- Assess existing drainage networks and identify improvement opportunities
- Develop feasibility and detailed drainage designs across project stages
- Utilise site inspections, survey data and modelling tools to propose effective solutions
- Provide technical reports, design outputs and project recommendations
- Support scheme delivery, construction activities and resilience improvements
- Collaborate with National Highways, contractors and environmental teams to meet standards and best practices
Key requirements
- Experience delivering highway drainage or drainage infrastructure projects
- Experience developing and reviewing drainage designs across multiple project stages
- Working knowledge of drainage design standards and guidance (DMRB and SuDS)
- Experience using drainage modelling software (MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow or similar)
- Strong communication skills to explain technical solutions
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
