Overview

In this role you will design and integrate mechanical and automation solutions for Mirion’s nuclear measurement systems. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure specifications, timelines, and costs are met while guiding junior engineers and contributing to tenders and commissioning. The position combines hands-on testing with project oversight across UK sites, within a highly regulated industry. Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical and automation work for bespoke system projects
  • Set team standards to achieve excellence in a regulated industry
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers
  • Apply best engineering practices across tasks
  • Support FMEA, fault tree analysis, SIL substantiation and AR&M assessments
  • Coordinate with divisional stakeholders to meet customer requirements
  • Contribute technical input to tender documentation (concept design, costing)
  • Identify and drive business improvement opportunities
  • Flexibility to work at other divisional sites, customer sites, and supplier sites

Key requirements

  • Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Good appreciation of electrical systems
  • Experience as a Project/Senior Engineer with broad mechanical, control, instrumentation and safety systems knowledge
  • PLC programming experience with familiarity with GE Fanuc applications (preferred)
  • Experience with Machinery Directive compliance and EN12100 / EN13849-1
  • Strong knowledge of general national and international codes, specs and standards
  • Excellent computing skills (MS Office, AutoCAD)
  • Able to obtain SC clearance (DV possible)
