Overview
As Senior Quantity Surveyor on a Manchester term maintenance contract, you will drive commercial performance and profitability. You will work within the Commercial team to maximise cash flow, forecast financial performance, and manage subcontractor accounts. You will lead measurement, certification, and change control to protect the contract value. Your role blends commercial leadership with hands-on management of subcontractors and reporting, helping the project meet targets and stay risk-aware. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position within a reputable main contractor.
Responsibilities
- Line management and integration of new team members where appropriate
- Maximise cash flow and ensure timely payments
- Provide financial and contractual forecasts to the management team
- Prepare monthly cost/value reports and analyse trends with the contract team
- Produce commercial reports and review results with the contract team
- Physically measure works and agree figures with client/subcontractors
- Authorize certification and payment of subcontractor accounts; monitor against forecasts
- Implement and monitor contract change control procedures
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to the area team
- Manage subcontractors: inquiries, price comparison, tender alignment, orders, payments
- Perform other duties as required by the manager

- Experience with a sub/main contractor on a UK civil engineering project in a commercial role
