Overview
In this role you will develop, improve and support Leonardo’s manufacturing processes and equipment to enable world-class production. You’ll work within Manufacturing Engineering to deliver robust, scalable solutions and provide technical guidance to internal and external customers. You’ll plan your work across medium-term horizons, lead improvements, and develop others while contributing to ongoing governance and lifecycle activities. This position offers a hybrid setup in Edinburgh, with a focus on sustaining delivery and process optimization that impact broader projects and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, designing and testing methods and equipment, and coordinating with operators and vendors
- Prepare for and lead Manufacturing Maturity Reviews and contribute to Lifecycle Management and Manufacturing Plans
- Review production schedules, labor and material costs, and estimate future requirements
- Produce product and process reports by collecting and summarizing data and trends
- Resolve complex production issues on the shop floor and respond to escalations from manufacturing teams
- Improve efficiency through capacity analysis, workflow planning, space layout, and equipment siting
- Review and contribute to manufacturing documentation, risk assessments, COSHH data, and technical reports
- Design methods and validate/verify process capabilities to ensure product and process quality
- Contribute to root cause analysis and problem solving (e.g., 8D) and support failure investigations
- Maintain manufacturing data integrity (routings, production plans, control plans, WIs)
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to develop skills within Manufacturing Engineering
- Lead improvement and development projects through training and collaboration with the engineering community
- Promote best-practice sharing and knowledge exploitation across teams
- Provide domain experience to support customer engagement and product roadmaps
- Ensure compliance with government regulations to protect product reputation
