Overview
In this role, you will lead and contribute to planning policy projects within a multidisciplinary team, working with clients and local authorities to secure planning outcomes. You will help shape policy, prepare evidence bases, and support strategic growth studies across local plans and infrastructure strategies. The position offers hybrid work in London, Bristol, or Manchester and can be full-time or part-time. You will contribute to business development and share technical knowledge to drive high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities
- Lead planning policy projects and develop local authority policy and strategy; coordinate evidence studies and strategic growth studies
- Provide strategic planning advice to clients and internal teams; represent the organization at conferences and networking events
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary project delivery to meet budgets and timelines
- Contribute to quality assurance and safety in planning deliverables
- Support business development; prepare commercial tenders and nurture client relationships
Key requirements
- Significant experience leading and contributing to planning policy and strategy development in consultancy or public sector
- Strong client & stakeholder relations with existing connections to clients and local authorities
- Business development mindset with proven work-winning and relationship-building capabilities
- Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and communicate effectively
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- High commitment to quality
- Degree in Town Planning or related discipline; RTPI membership or equivalent
