Overview
In this role you will lead production teams in a fast-paced military manufacturing setting to deliver aligned production plans and maximise on-time start and finish. You’ll report to the Senior Production Manager and drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement while supporting efficient operations. You will partner with cross-functional teams to manage workload, budgets, and performance metrics. The opportunity combines people leadership with hands-on process improvement in a mission-critical environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and motivate production teams to meet objectives
- Plan, direct and control production activities to meet targets
- Maximise OTS and OTF performance through workload analysis
- Drive efficiency, productivity, utilisation and quality improvements
- Monitor performance against budgets and plans
- Deputise for Production Managers as required
- Promote a safe working environment and minimise environmental impact
- Investigate accidents and implement preventative measures
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and housekeeping
- Lead continuous improvement projects and process enhancements
- Lead regular team and cross-functional meetings and communicate objectives and plans
- Analyse production, maintenance and quality indicators to identify risks and mitigate them
- Act as primary communication link between employees and management
Key requirements
- Manufacturing supervisory or management experience
- Strong understanding of production and inventory control and standard cost systems
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong analytical, leadership, influencing and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to develop, engage and motivate high-performing teams
