Overview

In this Staff Frontend Engineer role, you will lead frontend engineering across cross-functional squads to ship high-quality web features at scale. You’ll own architectural decisions, guide migrations, and shape the AI-enabled frontend strategy to accelerate delivery. The position sits at a fast-growing scale-up, emphasizing collaboration, code quality, and measurable impact on product and business outcomes. You’ll work closely with engineers, designers, data analysts, and a product manager to drive consistent, modern web experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Ship end-to-end features with accessible, performant components
  • Own API contracts and department documentation while maintaining a technical roadmap
  • Drive consistency across web properties and lead migration efforts
  • Set frontend security, reliability standards, and production readiness criteria
  • Oversee build and deployment, evaluate hosting and build-vs-buy decisions
  • Develop IC3 engineers into technical leaders and foster ownership culture
  • Lead AI-assisted engineering using Kiro and standardize AI integration in workflows

Key requirements

  • 5+ years of frontend experience delivering production web applications at scale
  • Ability to translate business priorities into technical decisions under uncertainty
  • Recognised as a technical frontend authority with influence beyond own team
  • Deep expertise in CSS/SCSS, HTML, and modern ECMAScript; strong framework trade-offs knowledge
  • Experience writing unit and E2E tests and building CI workflows
  • Strong TypeScript and modern React experience, plus Next.js for SSR/routing/data fetching
  • Pragmatic build-vs-refactor-vs-replace judgment informed by scale challenges
  • Interest in leading AI-assisted development in the team workflow
