Overview
Join Schindler as a Lift and Escalators Service Engineer to maintain safe, reliable lift and escalator systems across the Northwest Region and Scotland. You will perform planned preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and fault resolution to minimise downtime and improve equipment lifecycle. You’ll work with multi-brand equipment, collaborate with clients and internal teams, and cover an on-call rota to support after-hours needs. Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repairs and component replacement per procedures
- Rectify faults on equipment and verify proper operation
- Check function during maintenance (speed, start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, power supplies) using approved tools
- Perform routine inspections and adjustments; reinstate equipment and complete service documentation
- Conduct expert fault finding and diagnostics, restore equipment with third-party interfaces
- Carry out site surveys
Key requirements
- NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent
- Expert electrical and mechanical knowledge; multi-brand experience
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and technical report writing skills
- Good manual dexterity and use of tools
- Good communication with clients, service leaders, and inspectors
- Mentoring and training capability for Fitter levels
- Full UK driving licence
