Overview
In this role, you will lead and support strategic transport planning projects with a focus on pedestrian modelling, mainly for public sector clients. You’ll collaborate with senior colleagues to guide junior staff, develop and calibrate models, and deliver robust reports and presentations. The position blends technical modelling leadership with project governance and client liaison, contributing to a global transport planning practice. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to drive high-quality outcomes across local and international projects. Responsibilities
- Support Principal Consultants and Associate Directors on technical, managerial and financial aspects
- Mentor junior staff to enhance technical skills and professional development
- Prepare scope and fee estimates for new projects and manage delivery within budget
- Ensure KPIs are met and projects are delivered to high standards
- Lead technically on pedestrian modelling projects, including developing models, calibration and validation
- Prepare reports and presentations for diverse stakeholders
- Engage in client liaison and contribute to business development
- Provide input on scope, risk and resources for projects
Key requirements
- Pedestrian modelling software experience (Legion, Viswalk)
- Data collection and data analysis experience
- Strong numerical and analytical skills; proficient in MS Office
- Ability to handle complex modelling issues and deliver modelling projects meeting transport user needs
- Experience delivering modelling projects for public sector clients (e.g., NR, TfL)
- Familiarity with NR SCPDM and TfL Green Guide guidance
- BSc/MSc/BEng in Civil Engineering or Transport Planning
- Supervision of workload and mentoring junior staff
- Client liaison and report writing to a high technical standard
- Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication; presentation experience
