Technical Director – Mechanical (Building Services)

Overview

In this role you lead Building Services within WSP London, guiding day-to-day management, strategy, and client relationships. You drive profitable, sustainable work and oversee budgets, pipeline, and performance across large MEP teams. You will mentor colleagues, share knowledge globally, and position WSP as the engineer of choice through strong leadership and delivery. Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day team management, vision, and leadership within Building Services London
• Develop team spirit, co-operation, and client relationships to grow WSP’s brand in the South Region
• Manage budgets and contribute to MEP budget planning; improve performance and efficiency
• Collaborate with regional director and senior leadership on strategic initiatives across the team and wider business
• Drive work-winning, forecasting, and pipeline management for the MEP region
• Mentor and share knowledge with colleagues globally; uphold high professional standards
• Act as primary client contact and foster relationships with clients, developers, contractors, and architects
• Identify opportunities to provide excellent client care and develop additional business for the team

Key requirements

• Experience in business development and managing large teams of MEP professionals
• Proven track record as a Technical Director/Director (or senior Associate Director) in an engineering consultancy
• Self-motivated, impactful team leader who can drive efficiencies and growth
• Experience in mechanical, electrical and sustainable buildings design from concept to detailed design
• Chartership through CIBSE/IET/IMechE Engineering Council or willingness to pursue
• Ability to obtain UK Security Check (SC)
